The Cadet Program is committed to inclusion and ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent youth from participating. We firmly believe in providing opportunities for all cadets, regardless of their ability to pay fees. To uphold this commitment, financial assistance is available to support cadets in fully engaging with the program.
During registration, parents and guardians will be informed about the financial assistance program. Those seeking support can contact the Commanding Officer (CO) by email or in person to apply. In consultation with the Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) Chairperson, the CO has the discretion to recommend waiving fees based on the individual circumstances of each cadet.
Eligible fees include:
- Annual membership fees
- Costs for squadron activities (Mess Dinner, March Break Trips, etc.)
- Flying scholarship expenses
The SSC will review and approve the allocation of funds based on the CO's recommendation. This program ensures that every cadet has the opportunity to thrive in an inclusive and supportive environment, free from financial constraints.
Funding the Program
The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) is committed to ensuring that financial assistance is available for cadets who require it. To achieve this, designated funds will be maintained as a separate line item, distinct from the squadron’s main account.
These funds will be sourced from:
- Donations specifically earmarked to support cadets.
- A percentage of any surplus remaining in the Squadron's current account at the end of the training year.
The total funds allocated for financial assistance will not exceed the amount predetermined in the training year budget. The SSC will determine the specific percentage of funds allocated for this purpose during the annual budgeting process.
Maintaining Dignity and Privacy
To uphold the dignity and privacy of cadet families in need, the identity of cadets receiving financial assistance will remain confidential.
Additionally, parents of cadets receiving assistance are expected to maintain confidentiality regarding the financial support provided.
